An Introduction to Finance for Young Adults

AN INTRODUCTION TO FINANCE FOR YOUNG ADULTS

Join us in the Commons for a three-part series delving into the world of finances, and all the topics you'll face as young adults. We've lined up three panels of experts to share their knowledge for you to absorb as you further your career, look to buying your first home, or want to start building your savings. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Each night will include a short talk from the panelists, a time for Q&A, and a time to mingle with everyone, enjoy a bite to eat, and further discuss potential questions with the panelists. Feel free to join us for one, or all three! Each will be different and will provide information in different areas.

The first panel, held on November 5th, will dive into real estate: How do you actually save for and buy a home? What is all the paperwork actually for? These questions, and more, will be discussed and answered here. We've gathered a lovely team of relators and mortgage brokers from our community who are going to share their knowledge with us. This is for anyone who wants to buy a house soon, or would like more information on this for the near future. 

The second panel, on November 12th, will be all about Financial Planning. Think investing, savings, retirement: these are the topics  we'll dive into during this panel. If you're already dabbling with investing but want to learn more, or if you want a professional's opinion on which account will give you the most bang for your buck, you'll want to tune into this panel. Even if you have questions about the legal side of financial planning (do you even need a will as a young adult?), we'll have a wide range of panelists that fortunately includes a lawyer. If you want to learn how to better handle your money and finances, this is for you.

Finally, on November 19th, we'll wrap up our series with an insurance panel. Have questions about HSA accounts? Or maybe you've gotten a new job recently, and the insurance changed and it's all a bit confusing. Maybe you're confused as to why insurance is even necessary... well, if you've ever wondered about the world of insurance, this panel is for you.
